The city hall of the Italian city of Venice has approved this week the introduction of a new tax to be paid by those who visit its historic center, an « entrance fee» with which it is intended to control mass tourism.

Voted in favor of 22 of the 33 representatives premises present, thanks to the majority of the right, and a directive has also been adopted to immediately apply this rule, according to a statement from the Venetian consistory.
