In 1963, I bought 150 hectares and replaced the autochthonous strains with French varieties, then unknown in the region.Jaume Rovira, the winemaker, made the elaboration of elegant wines with personality. The bottles that went on the market were from the 1969 harvest. Here begins the story of Jean Leon Vinya La Scala Gran Reserva. And 50 years have passed since it was the first wine made mostly with cabernet sauvignon in Spain, considered today the great legacy of this visionary sonar.

Vinya La Scala is born from a small plot of eight hectares of almost sexagenarian strains, located at an altitude of 295 meters in the heart of Penedes.Very limited production, only those years in which the harvest has been exceptional and is one of the few Catalan wines qualified as' Vi de Finca&rsquo ;, the highest distinction granted by the Generalitat de Catalunya.Salto fame in 1981 when Ronald Reagan chose him for the official dinner of investiture as president of the United States. It was the harvest of 1975.From 1994, Vinya La Scala established a connection with the art world that is still alive today, embodying the works of recon hidden artists.
