Winery Route
More than six thousand hectares of vineyards registered, which are not many. Eleven Denominations of Origin , five of them in the Tenerife Island.Registered varieties up to 1,750 meters above sea level. The cultivation of the vine dates back five centuries and in the last decades the appearance of the Regulatory Councils has given a new dimension to the wine of the Islands Canary Islands. And also wine tourism, with many wineries prepared to receive tourists.
Until relatively recently, white wines (mainly from Malvasia and white list grapes) were the most recognized in the rest of Spain, with three high-level wineries, such as are El Grifo, Los Bermejos and Teneguia , the first two in Lanzarote and the third in La Palma, however, some reds have an enviable level and in this line began to position not many years ago Luck del Marques, which belongs to the Valle de la Orotava, a family winery born in 2006.
Valle de la Orotava is one of the eleven Denominations of Origin that the Canaries have, with three main grapes: the aforementioned malvasia (white wines) and black and negramoll (red) list. The other ten are the following: Ycoden Daute Isora, Guimar Valley, El Hierro, Tacoronte-Acentejo, Abona, Lanzarote, La Palma, Gran Canaria , La Gomera and Canary Islands.
In addition to the islands of Lanzarote and La Palma, the third very positioned to receive wine tourism is Tenerife and in fact has half of the Denominations of Origin and the oldest: Tacoronte-Acentejo .Located in the northern part of the island , is a treasure scattered throughout nine municipalities (Santa Ursula, La Matanza de Acentejo, La Victoria de Acentejo, El Sauzal, Tacoronte, Tegueste, El Rosario, San Cristobal de la Laguna and Santa Cruz de Tenerife).A treasure found through Bodegas Insulares or Bodegas Dominguez, for example, and the Canarias winery also lives in Tenerife, which, perhaps, started earlier and better the road through wine tourism: Bodegas Monje, in the municipality of El Sauzal.
